My first blog entry!! Very exciting. I think I'm going to start by explaining why I'm starting this blog, if anything just for posterity.
Basically, I used to use a journal with space to write something every day (this is documented on my journal page here on this website!), but in 2022 I bought a 5-year journal that...also had space to write something every day.I was able to keep up with both journals pretty well up until last year, 2025, when I just began missing days in both journals, sometimes weeks at a time. I just ended up writing the same thing in each journal, or only using my original daily journal for stickers or other decor items, which was fun but not really something I wanted to be bound to day after day.
One of the good things about that daily journal, though, was that it had enough space (generally) for me to write long-form entries if something particularly notable happened or I was trying to work through feelings. The 5-year journal simply does not have enough space for anything like that. I like having a journal that I can use to keep track of tasks and use stationary on and whatnot, so I still have a second journal (this time it is weekly instead of daily), but it also doesn't have the space for long entries. So here we are! This will be the space for that, at least for the next year.
I've always been a bit hesitant about starting a blog on my website because, theoretically, I'm already a user of two platforms that have (or had) blogging as one of their core functions: Tumblr and Spacehey. I've been on Tumblr since 2012, though, and I know for a fact that long-form writing about your day is not really the way most people use the website. It's certainly not how I used it, and I feel like at this point it would just be awkward and out of touch to try to begin actually blogging with it. It's more a micro-blog/collection of images and videos I like.
And Spacehey...I haven't figured out the social aspects of it yet, I think. Bulletins and friends and the blog...I feel like I don't understand any of it yet. I haven't come across many people who actually use the blogging section of SH for blogging, so if anyone does, please let me know and I'll check it out! I want to know how to use the site better.
But there it is! I needed a place to continue writing about whatever, and though I won't be able to get too personal with details, I think being able to branch out more on topics with basically unlimited space will make up for that.
