I have redone my blog theme! I am using another template, but I've tried to make it a bit more me this time. I hope it isn't more difficult to read/navigate for others, but I like it a lot. :)
This is moreso a getting-things-going-again entry, as I've been away from this blog for 3 months (though I'm not sure I even want to count my previous two posts as full entries, honestly) and I sort of need to just rip the band-aid off to start posting again.
Things havae been good! I have a lot more responsibility in my bookstore job lately, because we've decided to stop ordering new books exclusively from a wholesaler and instead open various accounts with publishers to order directly from them instead. It's a lot of paperwork and chasing down people to get answers, but the discounts are better and universally higher, so I think it will definitely be beneficial in the end if I can get everyone to cooperate with different ordering methods. My coworkers are very attached to habits and routine, but I have faith that they'll do their best to work with me, because it's so obviously a good thing.
Soon I am going to be pushing for a raise for all this work, but that is beside the point. For now.
I am also in the process of planning a trip back to Texas in September--scary! But I lived most of my life there, and I miss my old haunts so much that it hurts sometimes. I've compiled all the places I want to hit up plus some extra things like staying at the Great Wolf Lodge and going to a ren faire that I'd love to be able to do but I'm not sure if it will be cost-effective. I've placed my step-mom in charge of figuring out tickets, dates, car rental, etc., since she is a travel agent, but she just started a new job so I don't know if she'll actually have time to help me. I hope she does because the prospect of doing it all by myself is overwhelming! But, we'll see.
Lastly, it is hot. We don't have AC in our apartment, which is usually fine, but some days it gets surprisingly warm and a little sticky in Seattle, which is not fun. I hate the summer and I can't wait for it to be over. At least the World Cup is finished. I've been dreading that since 2024.
