Free Realms, my beloved. This is the one game on this list that most people probably do not have a relationship with compared to the others. I've seen polls on Tumblr (which is where I find most of the graphics related to these games...) asking if people have played/heard of this game, and the majority of people always answer no. Which is tragic! I'm sure FR had its problematic elements, given it was still an MMO geared towards children, but I do think it succeeded at being a WoW knockoff that was genuinely good and meant for kids. It's part of a world of gaming that simply doesn't exist anymore.

I was quite enchanted by the world of Free Realms, and I maintain that it had some of the best music and atmosphere of all the MMORPGs I tried as a tween. The different lands gave the impression of a huge open world that had so much lore and secrets, if only you had the membership to access them @_@. That's a problem with all MMOs, though, so I won't get into it here.

But my memories of FR are unilaterally good, and I was SO happy when OSFR (Open Source Free Realms) finally made it so you could walk around the world again. If nothing else comes from the project, I'll still just be satisfied that I could experience the areas again.

My favorites were Seaside, Merry Vale, and Briarwood ^_^
