one of the (many) upsides of living in seattle is that there is a prolific zine culture (you can read about zine history here)! not all of these zines are hand-stapled from seattle, of course, but they are all "indie" in some way. these are just zines i've kept over the years, and i plan to continue adding more as my collection grows!

the first "denpa" themed zine brought together by neocities user denpaarchive! loved the design and art; the writing could have had a bit more thought in my opinion, though. i am looking forward to issue 02!

picked this one up at a recent free marketplace in seattle. i really liked the cover and the interior collage-style. it's about a girl raised in the church coming to terms with her gay identity, which i can relate to on the other end.

desktopdog is the creation of one of my mutuals on tumblr, @segatoys! they aren't as active at the moment, though. this is a small comic featuring the desktop dog themselves and the human character, the "user." the whole project is pretty awesome and has a great aesthetic, so i'm really hoping it will continue to develop!

bought this basically as soon as i saw the front cover at emerald city comic con 2026! literally one minute passed between me seeing it and me walking away with it in my hands, i was that instantly sure i needed it. having read it though i do feel it was a bit expensive for the small amount of pages and simplistic drawings, but i don't regret it at all and i keep it on display whenever i can. it's very nostalgic and generally cool to see these two together :-)

a collection of pixel pngs from pixel artist onion labs! i have been following this artist for years at this point, so i had to get the zine when i saw they were making it. the framework is basically that the left page has a pixel object on it and the right has that object repeated across the page in a pleasing manner! it's cute. as of june 2026, they're still selling this zine! check out the website!!

i'm the head buyer at a bookstore in seattle and i love zines, so this seemed right up my ally! it was pretty cool, but seemed to be geared more towards general retail spaces than bookstores, which was a bit of a letdown (though it does say beyond the bookshelf...); still a nice tool with some good tips, i think.

while i appreciate the sentiment and art of this zine, it was a bit simplistic for someone like me who already has their own website and is deeper into the anti-social-media spaces than the average consumer. i enjoyed reading the tips on how to "disappear" though, and thinking and re-thinking about this will always be helpful in continuing it!

ok so this one is technically my boyfriend's zine, but i made it for him as a christmas present and we have it with all the other klance zines we own together, so it still counts! it is a compilation of all of his klance art from the years 2020-2023, when he was most prolific. klance was/is an important ship between us and our relationship, so making this was a gift for myself as well in some ways :)

a beautiful klance zine that my boyfriend and i created for klance tumblr (here's the archived blog for it) in 2021/2022. it focuses on keith and lance from voltron: legendary defender specifically in seasons 1-3. we had around 30 contributors and made profit enough to pay them + ourselves! it contains writing and art. i am still very proud of it.

i was a participant in this zine as a writer! however (and i can say this because nobody involved will EVER check this website), i don't think most of this zine really held up, and it included content of klance that i personally hate so much that i almost considered publicly denouncing it at the time lmao. but i'm more mature now and it wasn't like morally reprehensible shit, so i'm glad i still got a copy and stuck with it regardless.

an animal crossing new horizons klance zine--is there a more rencore 2020s title than that? this zine was particularly cute and already feels dated; it honestly felt dated by the time i received it, lol. but it had its place, and it came with washi tape that i still use to this day!
