MySims Kingdom
I played hours and hours of this game as a kid. Basically you build your MySim-sona and, with the power of a magic wand that allows you to build things, travel across this kingdom to different places and rebuild areas! It's a cute, quirky entry in the MySims series, and one of the best, I think.

Here's my MySim-sona!

Customizing your character is definitely one of the most fun parts of the game.

The Sims 2 Pets
This game is so difficult to play and I love it a lot. Frankly no Sims game should have ever been ported to the Wii, but this 2007 gem was, and I played it extensively as a kid. Here's a 3-minute video playthrough example of the game! I feel particularly nostalgic for the soundtrack and other misc audio cues.

"Crystal Diamond" is truly a hilarious name. This poor Sim's house is so dirty, as well...I moved her out and replaced her with my boyfriend and me shortly after recording this.

Nights: Journey of Dreams

Fun fact about this game: I was absolutely terrified of it for, like, years, to the point where I asked my dad to hide the disc from me until I was ready to face it. The game gave me nightmares. I've started to replay it recently, and honestly? I can kind of see why it scared me! It's really eerie in some parts, and the gameplay and controls are pretty complex. I have such a love for Nights now, in part due to this history. I hope to play more soon!

The DOG Island

Okay, so, while my first love is Petz Catz 2 (Wii)--link to my shrine for it here!--this is the spiritual prequal to that game, made by the same company, Ubisoft. Recently, in my little corner of the internet, anyway, The DOG Island has received some attention for it's unexpectedly dark storyline. Having loved Petz Catz 2 before this, though, my child self was very prepared, and I mostly just remember enjoying this game and it's weird, dark aspects!

My main dog was named Angel, and she was a pug. Named after a real dog I had :')

Wii Sports Resort

I have a feeling most of you probably know this game! It's the sequel to the iconic Wii Sports, and in my opinion, it built and improved upon the basic games of its predecessor, fleshing them out into more complex, colorful, and balanced gameplay. I have fond memories flying around the "resort" for hours :)

I love you, frisbee dogs.

Here are some soda/can models that I found on models-resource also, lol.

Wii Music

I remember Wii Music having so much content and little hidden easter eggs that I was surprised when, earlier this year (2023), I played it again with my boyfriend and friend, I found it to be...a little less exciting than it was when I was a kid. Not that it wasn't still fun, but it felt a bit silly to explain the vaguely shitty controls to two people who had never really played it and therefore maybe had different expectations. To be fair, I also had different expectations. But, oh well! It's quirky and cute, and the music options are pretty cool, I think! I'll always remember my time with it very, very fondly ^_^

Here are some of the backgrounds you can play music in!

Bratz: Girlz Really Rock

Bratz makes an appearance once again! I really was a Bratz kid at the end of the day. This was the only Bratz Wii game I ever had, though, probably just because of the timing; it and the movie of the same name came out at around the same time I was really into the Wii, so it made sense to have it. Most of what I remember from this game is dressing Yasmin up and such; the plot is completely lost on me.

The girlies looking slay as ever...

My Wii actually crashed when I tried to change Yasmin's outfit when I was recording a video for this site though, so we'll see if it's even possible for me to actually play the game ever again...lol.

Golden Compass

Yes, there was a game made for this piece of media, all the way back in 2007. November 30th, 2007, to be exact, which is good timing, because this game does have the Christmas vibe generally attached to things-that-have-snow-in-them usually do.

Obviously, this isn't an original game. It was made to piggy back off of the release of the film of the same name (which actually released on December 7th, a week after the video game!), and the film was based on Book 1 of the His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman from 1995.

It is my understanding that the movie received...less than positive reviews, as evidenced by the fact that a sequel was never made, even though there were 3 books in the series by Pullman. A TV show was made some time after the film, but I've never seen that and I know the game wasn't based on it, so it's irrelevant here, lol.

I can't really describe why I like this game so much! I played it far more than I played most story-based games when I was a kid, though I'm sure half of that time was spent just fucking around in the snow rather than actually going through the story, lol. It felt really enchanting to me regardless, though; I was interested in this game around the same time I liked Peter Pan, and if you know anything about the book/film, you'll know those two things complement each other quite nicely. It's all very adventurous and magical and fun, right down to the UI within the game!

Here's a video of the introduction of the game. It sets the vibe for the story pretty well, in my opinion!

Wii Play

Another classic!! I remember vividly sitting on the couch during summer break and playing what felt like hours of these games, maxxing out points on my favorite ones. My dad was a big ping pong player, so we often played the Ping Pong game together, and I consistently beat him (though the talent did not translate to the real world.

^ These are all the games Wii Play had: Shooting Range, Find Mii, Table Tennis, Pose Mii, Laser Hockey, Billiards, Fishing, Charge!, and Tanks! I definitely had my favorites; I played the games below (Table Tennis, Pose Mii, Laser Hockey, and Find Mii) most often :)

This game is just so quirky and fun, and there are a lot of hidden easter eggs that mean absolutely nothing to the game but serve to make it that much more fun to play. For example, if you touch your Mii's different body parts, they will react!

(Okay, this isn't exactly hidden, but it is fun and quirky, so it's staying.)

Generally, this game is just so lovingly crafted that it feels like more than just a collection of relatively simple mini-games. Every aspect of it is done to the highest calibre, and while I'm not sure that that made the original price tag ($49.99, though it did come with an extra Wiimote) worth it. It's pretty cheap now, though, and it's definitely a must-have for any Wii game collection.

Anyway, here's some fish.

Mario Kart Wii

Funnily enough, with this title, I didn't even own it until I'd spent hours playing it already; I mostly played it at my friend's house when we'd have sleepovers, and I remember we were endlessly amused when we were so disruptive during online play (just driving in the wrong direction and such lol) that we got kicked off the servers. Some of my best memories of that friend's house are from when we played Mario Kart Wii, so it's very nostalgic for me.

I won't say I was particularly good at Mario Kart, but I did play it enough to have favorite courses!

(Gifs from mariowiki.com)

I was a casual player at the time, so I never really had a specific combination of cart/wheels/glider that I went for, but I did usually main Yoshi!

The music for some of the Mario Kart Wii courses is also seared into my brain forever. Here are some of my favorite tracks :) :
